About Me

About Me

Hey! I'm Zach, a graduate games programmer. I am actively searching for roles within programming or the games industry so I can develop what I am passionate about.

I've been interested in video games for as long as I can remember, with early memories of building theme parks and rollercoasters in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I spent time after school playing Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft with friends, and have consistently been a fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

I enjoy thinking logically to solve problems, which led me to become captivated with programming at university. Being able to write working functionality interests me, but I am equally excited by the challenge that faces you when something does not work as planned.

This site showcases a couple of my programming projects, my CV, and a few ways you can send me a message.
Education
I have recently graduated with First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology from the University of Portsmouth. I completed various projects as part of my studies, in which I showed a keen interest in virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
These projects helped me develop programming skills in Unity and Unreal game engines. For example, I used finite state machines and behaviour trees, alongside perception systems in my AI projects.
Look at the 'Projects' page for more info on my skills.
Hobbies and Interests
As expected, I enjoy playing games. Some of my current favourites are Overwatch 2, Marvel's Spiderman and Planet Coaster.
I also try to get out and photograph wildlife and animals when I can, especially at my local zoo. I put my favourites on my photography Instagram account: '@zachbeachphotography', a few of which you can see below!
Lastly, I enjoy watching musicals and going to theme parks when I can.
